Professional Liability Insurance Companies and Risk Retention Groups Offering Basic Coverage

The HCSF Board of Governors does not endorse or recommend any particular insurance company. The list of insurers is provided for the convenience of health care providers and the information is posted as requested by the listed companies and risk retention groups. Although coverage may be offered to one or more categories of health care providers, this does not necessarily mean the insurer will issue a policy to every applicant.

The listed insurance companies and risk retention groups have been authorized by the Kansas Insurance Commissioner to issue basic professional liability insurance policies to Kansas health care providers. There may be other companies that have been granted authority but are not currently offering coverage in Kansas, or have not yet contacted the HCSF to request listing.

Except for risk retention groups (RRGs), the policyholders of each of the identified insurance companies are protected by the Kansas Insurance Guaranty Association Act. The purpose of that Act is to protect Kansas policyholders if their insurance company becomes insolvent.
